A Business Plan Competition for School Students

Everyone has a business mind in some way or the other. Right from the beginning of our journey in this world, we start doing business. For those inquisitive minds who try to solve their problems in the most innovative way, Eureka! Junior provides a platform to present their business idea. It is a competition that focuses to develop the entrepreneurial mindset of a student at an early stage.
Registrations for Eureka! Junior have been closed!

Preliminary Workshop 

  1. The workshop would be 1.5 hours long which will cover the basics of Entrepreneurship, Idea Generation and validation.
  2. The speaker of the workshop will be catered by IIT Bombay.
  3. The Cost of the workshop is Rs.100/-

Registration

  1. First the team needs to sign up with a valid email id. After signing in you will have to fill in your basic details. After filling in the the basic details, you will see the questionnaire.
  2. The team needs to fill a Questionnaire that describes the idea of the team.
  3. The questionnaire of Eureka! Junior is so designed that compiling the answers to the questions would create a basic but complete image of the idea. A participant is expected to answer all questions in the questionnaire in detail.
  4. The answers to the questionnaire can be saved and edited repeatedly until one week from the day of login. Ex- If a participant login on 1st January then he/she can edit and submit the Questionnaire till 8th January. The last saved answers would be frozen on the last day of the week from the date of login.

Preliminary Submission

The semifinalists are required to submit a pitch deck before coming to the advanced workshop in IIT Bombay. A pitch deck is a presentation which the participants (in .pptx format) need to submit which should cover the following aspects:

  1. What is the problem that your team is trying to solve?
  2. What is the solution to the problem or how are you trying to solve the problem?
  3. Is there a need to the problem you are trying to solve?
  4. Who are your customers?
  5. Who are in your team and what is the working of each member?

Advance Workshop

  1. The semifinalists would be invited to IIT Bombay for a more advanced picture of Entrepreneurship.
  2. The workshop will be a day-long and will cover more advanced aspects of Entrepreneurship like Business Model Canvas, How to Pitch in front of investors, etc.
  3. A single parent is allowed to come with each participant.
  4. Waiting rooms will be provided for parents till the workshop continues and Lunch would be provided by IIT Bombay.

Pitch Deck Submission

  1. The finalists are required to update the presentation according to the things they are taught in the workshop in IIT Bombay.

Finals

  1. The finalists will be invited to E-Summit, the flagship event of Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Bombay.
  2. The finalists are required to pitch their pitch deck in front of a panel of judges.
  3. Travel reimbursements would be done partially for the finalists.
  4. More detailed guidelines would be shared by the finalists at a later stage.
  1. The participants can register in a team with a maximum of 3 members.
  2. Eligibility criteria - The students from class 6th to 10th are allowed to participate.
  3. Entries submitted after the Phase 2 deadline will not be considered.
  4. The name of the entries cannot be changed after the deadline of Phase 2. However, any change of name can be done in Phase 3 and Phase 4 by bringing it to our notice, stating the Team ID.
  5. Only teams that qualify for the Phase 3 are eligible for submitting their final Pitch deck.
  6. Please submit the preliminary submission along with an executive summary by logging into Eureka! Junior portal using your credentials by 24th November 2018 (11:59 pm). For your convenience, guidelines are provided which can be referred.
  7. Prize Distribution:
    Winner - cash prize of INR 50,000/-
    1st runner up - cash prize of INR 30,000/-
    2nd runner up - cash prize of INR 20,000/-

 

Q. I want to participate in Eureka! 2019. What are the steps I should follow?

A. Step 1: Register here for Eureka! Junior 2019.

Step 2: You will have to provide the team leader details, team members details, postal address and other details as required. You will receive a confirmation mail.

Step 3: After confirming, you can proceed to the submissions page.

Q. Is my idea secure?

A. Yes, your idea is only shared with the judges and no one else can see them. 

 

Q. Who can participate?

A. Any student from class 6th - 10th can participate.

 

Q. How many members can participate in a team?

A. A maximum of 3 members are allowed in a team.

 

Q. Do I necessarily need to have a team?

A. NO, but we highly recommend participating in a team.

 

Q. What is the fee for the preliminary workshop?

A. The fee for the preliminary workshop is Rs. 100/-

 

Q. Do I have to pay a registration fee to participate in the competition?

A. No, there is no registration/participation fee.

 

Q. Do I compulsory need to be a part of the preliminary workshop to participate in the competition?

A. If your school is conducting the preliminary workshop then we highly recommend attending the workshop, but you can register without attending the preliminary workshop.

 

Q. Is it necessary that in a team, the students should be of the same class?

A. No, a 6th class student may team up with a 10th class student and vice versa.

 

Q. Is it necessary to form a team with the same school students?

A. No, a student from school ‘X’ may team up with a student of school ‘Y’ until both belong from class 6th to class 10th.

 

Q. What is the last date of submission?

A. The last date to submit the questionnaire is 10th November 2019.

 

Q. Does my idea have to be technology related?

A. NO, we accept all entries that have the potential to be a business model.

 

Q. Can I take part in Eureka! Junior if I have already participated last year?

A. You can take part in the competition provided you are not one of the winners from previous years. The previous winners can only participate if they have a different idea.
