I-Hack!

At I Hack 2017, we bring together India’s best coders, developers, designers, innovators, creators and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. I Hack is geared up for those who are passionate about building, designing and innovating. It is a 48 Hr event where the enthusiasts meet, develop and compete in the product prototyping competition. We encourage all kinds of ideas, whether it’s a proof of concept, looks-like-works-like model or a prototype.

Rules and guidelines


Hardware category rules

  1. Every student team participating in the Hardware Track must use/include Texas Instruments microprocessor/controller in their prototype. Every important component used must be disclosed before coming at the hackathon.

  2. Every professional team should bring their own kits required for the hackathon and they are free to use any microprocessor/controller

  3. Prototyping facilities will be available for both students and professionals free of cost upto certain limit.

  4. A student team can order a fixed budget of TI Components (50$) worth free of cost. If it exceeds that amount, teams are liable to pay the remaining cost. Items covered under fixed budget are marked separately.

  5. E-Cell IIT Bombay reserves the right to change and cancel any point/clause/prize any time.

  6. Not everyone who are registering for the hackathon will be invited to IIT Bombay.Based on the inputs provided in the registration form selected teams would be invited

  7. All the teams must submit the list of items before 20th January, 2017 if they are bringing with them at the venue for the hackathon. Any non disclosed items would not be allowed in the event. Teams however can bring their own laptops/mouse/keyboards without disclosure.

  8. Each team must submit the preferred list of items in the registration form itself. If any changes are there for TI components, Teams must communicate to us at ihack@ecell.in on or before 24th January, 2016

  9. All queries must be redirected to ihack@ecell.in with the subject "i-Hack query"

  10. Teams are forbidden build anything from before.

Software (Web/Mob) category rules

  1. Software category includes building webpages,app on IOS, Android or any other platform.

  2. Software category includes 2 themes, namely The Surreal Sprint and Impress with Cimpress.

  3. Not everyone who are registering for the hackathon will be invited to IIT Bombay.Based on the inputs provided in the registration form selected teams would be invited

  4. All queries must be redirected to ihack@ecell.in with the subject "i-Hack query"

  5. For both the themes, you are free to use any tools and develop any Application under the given topics.

  6. Teams are forbidden to build anything from before.

  7. E-Cell IIT Bombay reserves the right to change and cancel any point/clause/prize any time.

  8. Once you have registered for a particular track you will not be allowed to change it. So think twice before opting a theme.

FAQ's

Current students of any college of India as well as working professionals.
A team should contain 3-4 members. Individuals can also register in the hackathon but however they won’t be allowed to participate individually. Selected individuals would be invited to the finals at IIT Bombay and they would be clubbed in teams.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide travel reimbursements.
This event is completely free! We’ll provide you with a plethora of resources and tools to hack with.
There would be 3D printers, Milling and CNC facilities, Basic Workshop tools and much more.
You need to carry your ID Card to check-in. You could also bring your laptop for hacking. You can also feel free to bring in any of the materials that we approve. You have to send us an email listing the materials you will be bringing to hackathon on or before 24th January 2017 to get them approved. You will not be allowed to bring anything that has not been pre-approved.

Registration Process

All participants must register on or before 24th January, 2016 on the website www.ecell.in/esummit/ihack/reg.php . Only team participation is allowed at the event. However, individuals can also register on the portal. Selected individuals would then be invited for the finals at IIT Bombay and on the spot teams would be formed. There would be limited on the spot entries on the venue only for IIT Bombay Student teams. Selected Individual entries can make their own team on the spot and attend the hackathon. You can join the selected teams at the event at the event venue.

Note: IIT Bombay participants can join on the spot in teams.
